First Circuit Declares Unconstitutional A Portion Of The Defense Of Marriage Act

On May 31, 2012, in Gill, et al., v. Office of Personnel Management, et al., Case Nos. 10-2207 & 10-2214, a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit unanimously declared unconstitutional Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act (“DOMA”).
