Francis "Tripper" Ortman was quoted in The Recorder article, “In Ugly Economy, Age Bias Claims Are a Tough Sell,” published August 6, 2010. The article discussed how juries are not awarding large amounts in age bias and other employment cases.

The article noted that defense lawyers say some themes resonate with jurors in hard times. Tripper commented that one theme is the notion of  “dignity in all work.” He explained that in two recent bias cases, Seyfarth lawyers were able to show juries that the respective employers had offered the plaintiffs other jobs that they turned down. He pointed out that “juries aren’t going to be sympathetic to plaintiffs who were given opportunities that they didn’t take. They’re not going to give them damages for that.”
