Holger Besch Quoted in Los Angeles Business Journal
“By the Letter”
Holger Besch was quoted in the July 27, 2009 Los Angeles Business Journal article, “By the Letter.” The article discussed the tie between Holger and another contestant for first place at the fifth annual lawyers for literacy spelling bee on July 8, 2009. The spelling bee was a fundraiser held by the L.A. chapter of Everybody Wins, a national literacy non-profit, which raised $45,000. The article noted that it was Holger’s fourth time participating in the spelling bee. According to the article, neither contestant could correctly spell the word “pococurante,” meaning indifferent. Holger jokingly compared the spelling match to the dramatic Wimbledon final between the tennis superstars when he commented, “It was like the Roddick-Federer match, but it didn’t end in a victory for either.”
