Jack Toner Quoted in the National Law Journal
"Election Jitters For Corporate Attorneys"
Jack Toner was quoted in the October 20, 2008 issue of the National Law Journal in the article, "Election Jitters For Corporate Attorneys." The article discussed the potential for greater employer regulation and labor legislation in the event that Senator Obama wins the presidential election next month. The significant labor bills outlined in the article were: the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA), the Honest Leadership and Accountability in Contracting Act, the Equal Remedies Act, and the expansion of the Family and Medical Leave Act. Although EFCA has garnered the most attention, attorneys such as Jack warn that there are other bills not in employers' interest as well. Jack explained that "People should not focus solely on EFCA, although it is extremely important, to be sure," as he believes the presidential election has sweeping changes in store. He continued that its likely the election is "going to change the labor laws as we've known them for the last 70 years."
