Josh Rodine Discusses California High Court Raising Bar for Wage Dispute Defense in International Employment Lawyer

International Employment Lawyer quoted Josh Rodine in its article, “Ignorance no excuse for wage violations, California Supreme Court rules,” on August 28. Rodine discussed the California Supreme Court’s ruling that an employer must demonstrate a reasonable effort to understand their obligations under the state’s minimum wage law before claiming a good faith defense in court.

“As to the wage/hour component of the decision, it is generally positive in that it affirms that an employer will not necessarily be liable for liquidated damages in the event that it fails to pay the minimum wage.”
