Joshua Seidman Presents at American Benefits Council Policy Board of Directors Meeting

On November 15, 2023, Joshua Seidman presented at the American Benefits Council (ABC) Policy Board of Directors meeting in Washington, DC.

Joshua, along with Ben Gitis, associate director of  Bipartisan Policy Center Economic Policy Program, discussed and offered insights on the prospect for progress on paid leaves issues and discussions on Capitol Hill. Joshua also provided information on recent state paid family leave law activity, as well as on how existing paid family leave laws compare to one another and the challenges they create for both employers and employees. Board members who have participated in Capitol Hill paid leave visits were asked to share their impressions of the receptivity of congressional offices to the Council's message on the need for a federal response to the myriad state and local laws.

Additionally, Ilyse Schuman, the Council's senior vice president, health policy, was recently invited to be a representative of major employers in a formal discussion on Capitol Hill with the six members of the Bipartisan Working Group on Paid Leave. Ilyse reported on that session.
