Mike Viccora Quoted in Washington Times
“Hotel Employees Agree to Pact”
Mike Viccora was quoted in the article, “Hotel Employees Agree to Pact,” published in the September 6, 2007 edition of the Washington Times. Mike negotiated a three-year labor agreement on behalf of the Hotel Association of Washington, D.C., which the article reports is subject to approval by a vote of Local 25 of Unite Here. Mike told the paper that the agreement includes a provision that will make it easier for the half-dozen hotels at the National Harbor complex in Prince George’s County to become members of the union by means of a simple vote rather than having to go through a more complex process involving the National Labor Relations Board. That provision applies only to hotels in the District and National Harbor, not the surrounding areas. The labor agreement covers 5,000 hotel employees in D.C.
Mike noted, “Both parties came to the table ready and willing to make an agreement that was good for the employees and good for the hotels.”
