“Are You Violating ADA Requirements?”

Minh Vu was quoted September 10 discussing medical offices that are inadvertently violating the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

According to the article, some medical offices assume they are in compliance with the ADA since their facility had gone through a building inspection when it was constructed. Minh explained, “that’s not true at all. Building inspectors are not inspecting for compliance with ADA requirements. They’re only inspecting for local and state building code requirements, which may or may not be consistent with the ADA. It’s a common misconception.” Minh recommended that medical offices should be aware of the state laws and to contact an attorney’s office that handles disability cases and ask them who they would recommend to inspect the office.
