Employment partner Pamela Devata was quoted in an SHRM Online article that discussed the use of criminal records and credit histories in hiring decisions. According to the article, on January 1, 2011, Illinois became the fourth state to restrict the use of credit histories in hiring decisions but kept provisions to allow them in many situations. Pam noted that “the exceptions basically swallow the rule.”
