Processing Delays Due to Required Additional Security Clearance

INS has announced that all cases must now be cleared not only through the existing INS system CLAIMS but also through the U.S. Department of Treasury system called Inter-Agency Border Information System or IABIS. Putting cases through the IABIS clearance process will require additional hardware as well as INS examiner training, resulting in considerable processing delays for many types of cases (including I-129s, I-140s, and EAD applications). Employers may thus wish to consider using the premium processing program for time-sensitive cases.
