Partow-Navid discussed how the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) issued a memorandum saying the agency's existing mechanisms are adequate to tackle attorney conduct — and misconduct — related to the use of artificial intelligence tools, but promised to provide more guidance in the next few months.

“The guidance rightfully notes that AI has the potential to expand access and lower costs before the PTAB and TTAB…perhaps increasing sanctions for those who use the output of generative AI without checking its accuracy is a way to curb its misuse.’”
