Robert Nobile’s article, "Back to Basics: Documenting Employee Performance and Behavioral Problems,” was published in the January/February 2010 issue of HR Advisor. In his article, Bob discusses how preparing and maintaining proper documentation of the overall performance, attitude, conduct, and demeanor of employees is important to employers from both a legal and business perspective. He explains that given the litigious nature of many individuals today, it is inevitable that companies will be forced to defend the propriety of many of their employment decisions involving current and former employees. Bob's article addresses the basics of documentation of performance and behavior issues, and also how to effectuate termination decisions where no or little prior documentation exists.
