Robert Stevens and Benjamin Briggs’ arrival to Seyfarth Shaw’s Labor & Employment Department was featured in the Employment Law360 article, “Seyfarth Shaw Snags 2 Troutman Labor Partners,” published July 7, 2009. The article noted that Bob concentrates his practice on employment discrimination, restrictive covenant, wage-and-hour issues and trade secrets. While Ben focuses on wage-and hour litigation, employment discrimination, OSHA cases, collective bargaining and whistleblower claims, among other specialties. Both attorneys provide counseling to their clients on complying with federal and state labor laws and on ways to prevent litigation.

Bob and Ben are among a number of experienced labor litigators who joined the firm this year because of Seyfarth’s nationwide employment department. Bob noted that his “main motivations for joining Seyfarth were its depth of practice and its national foot print in labor law. Seyfarth has more depth in both Occupational Safety and Health Administration-related cases as well as cases related to immigration than his previous firm had.”

When discussing the future of employment law and his practice, Bob explained that he expects his national employment business to pick up even more during the Obama administration. Bob noted, “A compromised version of the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) will likely pass and Obama has already signed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act.” He also observed, “With the new administration there is a lot of opportunity for growth for lawyers and a lot of obstacles that employers are going to face.”

The article concluded with a quote from Jeremy Sherman, Chair of Seyfarth’s Labor & Employment Department, who commented, “Bob and Ben are excellent additions to our deep bench of talented labor and employment attorneys in Atlanta.”
