Sam Schwartz-Fenwick and Dawn Solowey Address Potential Workplace Flashpoints Concerning Autism in HR Dive Article

Seyfarth’s Sam Schwartz-Fenwick and Dawn Solowey, leaders of Seyfarth’s cultural flashpoints taskforce, co-authored an article, “An employer’s guide to navigating cultural flash points around autism,” in HR Dive on June 30. The Seyfarth attorneys discussed how autism has recently become a political and cultural flash point, noting that, like other polarizing issues, its impact is likely to reach the workplace; however, employers can take proactive steps to reduce legal risk while supporting all employees.

“Many employers have for decades taken active steps to recognize the value of inclusion of all employees, including those who are neurodiverse. Those efforts are facing challenging headwinds as the divisive rhetoric around autism has the potential to spill over into the workplace.”
