Firm Establishes Regional Law Blog to Chronicle the Latest "Cal-Peculiarities"

LOS ANGELES (January 24, 2013) – Seyfarth Shaw LLP today announced the launch of its California Peculiarities Employment Law Blog, which will help in-house attorneys, human resource professionals, business owners, and managers navigate the peculiarities of California employment law and provide practical workplace solutions for California employers.

Inspired by the popularity of Seyfarth’s annual guide, Cal-Peculiarities: How California Employment Law is Different, which enters its 14th year in publication in 2013, the Cal-Peculiarities Blog is unlike any other California employment law blog. Rather than simply waiting for legal developments on which to report, the Cal-Peculiarities Blog will also feature a variety of new blog series that will focus on evolving areas of interest, including California leaves of absence, recruiting and hiring, trade secrets, wage hour topics, and the use of social media.

Led by Seyfarth partners Brandon McKelvey and Colleen Regan, the blog draws on the experience of Seyfarth’s team of more than 40 California law counselors who practice across a wide spectrum of labor and employment law, including advice and counsel, wage hour, harassment and discrimination, traditional labor, and trade secret.

“We’re excited to expand on the popular content of our annual Cal-Peculiarities report so that we can provide our audience with a more comprehensive and real-time look at the dynamic legal landscape in California,” said Lisa Damon, chair of Seyfarth’s Labor & Employment Department. “This is a unique opportunity; We now have a regionally focused blog that’s a critical resource for any company in the country that does business in California.”

The Cal-Peculiarities blog series Workplace Solutions will feature a combination of guest authors, including experts and consultants in labor and employment law, and regular posts from Seyfarth’s California-based attorneys, who will offer unique insight into the challenges that California employers face. This kicks off with a series entitled, “Cal Lawmakers Keep It Peculiar: 2013 Legislative Updates and Predictions,” which summarizes key changes in California employment law for 2013 and provides practical workplace solutions for employers dealing with these changes. Cal-Peculiarities marks Seyfarth’s first-ever regionally focused blog and its eighth overall. The firm’s comprehensive blog portfolio provides in-depth and current coverage of the most complex and developing areas of workplace law across the country.

Seyfarth Shaw has more than 800 attorneys and provides a broad range of legal services in the areas of labor and employment, employee benefits, litigation, corporate and real estate.
