Seyfarth is pleased to announce that lawyers Annette Tyman (Labor & Employment Partner - Chicago), Mia Batista (Labor & Employment/Immigration Associate - New York), and James R. Billings-Kang (Litigation Associate - Washington, D.C.) have been selected to the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD).

Tyman was named a member of the 2021 class of Fellows. The landmark Fellows Program was created by LCLD to identify, train, and advance the next generation of leaders in the legal profession. The program is designed to connect high-potential attorneys from preeminent organizations for a year-long professional development series that focuses on leadership and relationship building. The LCLD Fellows Program, which has trained nearly 2,000 mid-career attorneys since 2011, is one of LCLD’s most important initiatives. Notably, more than 50 alumni of the program have become general counsel, managing partners, judges, or opened their own firms since their fellowship year.

Batista and Billings-Kang were named members of the 2021 class of Pathfinders, participating in a program designed by LCLD to train early-career attorneys in critical career development strategies including leadership and the building of professional networks. The Pathfinder Program is designed to connect high-potential attorneys from preeminent organizations for a seven-month professional development series that focuses on foundational leadership skills, professional networks and relationship building skills, and career development strategies. The program is now in its sixth year as a full-scale program, having been piloted in 2015 among a select number of LCLD Member law firms and corporations. It is an initiative that has filled a gap in LCLD programming, targeting junior associates and the youngest members of corporate law departments. Pathfinders have been identified as diverse, early-career emerging leaders who have, or have the potential to, distinguish themselves within their organization.

This year’s Fellows and Pathfinders have been selected by more than 300 LCLD member corporations and law firms to participate in these programs. Within their organizations, these participants have distinguished themselves from their colleagues. Fellows have proven to be indispensable to key clients and teams, invested in attorney mentoring and professional development, and on a trajectory towards leadership positions. Pathfinders are recognized as emerging leaders within their organization.

Founded in 2009, LCLD is a growing organization of more than 350 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners who are personally committed to creating a more diverse and inclusive legal profession. To learn more, visit here
