Washington, D.C. (September 30, 2013) — Seyfarth Shaw LLP announced today the return of Labor & Employment lawyer Paul Kehoe, who rejoins the firm after serving as Special Assistant/Attorney Advisor to the Honorable Victoria A. Lipnic, Commissioner, U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Kehoe will serve as senior counsel and reside in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office.  He previously practiced in the firm’s Chicago and D.C. offices before joining the EEOC in 2010.

As Special Assistant/Attorney Advisor, Kehoe provided legal and political counsel to Commissioner Lipnic regarding all policy matters confronting the EEOC, including regulations and enforcement guidance documents and all aspects of agency business, such as EEOC-initiated litigation, systemic litigation, Commissioner charges, requests for approval to file amicus briefs by the Office of General Counsel, subpoena determinations and field activities.

Kehoe negotiated and drafted the final regulations under the Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act, the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act and the final EEOC enforcement guidance regarding the use of criminal background checks during the hiring process. He also advised Commissioner Lipnic on various timely topics, including the EEOC’s systemic program, leave as a reasonable accommodation, equal pay, wellness programs, criminal and credit background screens, pregnancy discrimination, the EEOC’s Strategic and Strategic Enforcement Plans, the Quality Control Plan and all other federal antidiscrimination laws.

Kehoe received his B.S. from Villanova University in 1999 and his J.D. with honors from The George Washington University Law School in 2005.
