CHICAGO (June 8, 2012) — Leading law firm Seyfarth Shaw LLP announced today the formation of an inter-disciplinary National Trial Team to leverage the experience of its trial attorneys from the firm’s Litigation and Labor & Employment Departments.
With fewer cases going to trial, selecting superior trial counsel with a proven track record is more critical than ever for clients today. Seyfarth’s National Trial Team provides clients of all sizes with significant first-chair experience in jury and bench trials in jurisdictions across the country. Its attorneys have represented clients in trials involving a variety of industries, including automotive, banking, chemical, construction, financial services, grocery, hospitality, insurance, manufacturing, medical device, pharmaceutical, retail and technology, among others.
Seyfarth’s National Trial Team also serves as a key firm-wide resource and collaborator within the firm, providing attorneys with cutting-edge intelligence into trial best practices and emerging issues.
“Businesses today operate in an increasingly complex environment that requires sophisticated and experienced courtroom advocates when faced with a trial,” said Katherine Perrelli, Chair of Seyfarth’s Litigation Department. “Our National Trial Team brings together our litigators – wherever they reside – with our clients to develop the most successful and innovative courtroom strategies.”
Led by litigators Michael Levinson, partner in the Litigation Department, and Lynn Kappelman, partner in the Labor & Employment Department, Seyfarth’s National Trial Team spans a variety of trial needs for clients and is actively engaged to:
- Represent clients from the beginning of litigation all the way through trial
- Replace current counsel and serve as lead trial counsel on high-profile trials
- Collaborate with an existing trial team at Seyfarth or another firm to serve as co-trial counsel
- Act as "strategic counsel" to lend another set of eyes to the litigation -- including jury instructions, verdict forms, voir dire and motions in limine -- as the case is handled by a team from another firm.
“Seyfarth maintains an extensive trial resume, securing successful trial outcomes for clients in class action, as well as single- and multi-plaintiff lawsuits, among other complex disputes,” explained Lisa Damon, Chair of Seyfarth’s Labor & Employment Department. “Through our National Trial Team, we are now best positioned to counsel clients facing trials across the country.”
Seyfarth’s National Trial Team also manages a knowledge center to deliver state-of-the-art intelligence and insight into particular judges, venues and opposing counsel, while monitoring trial management and presentation technology best practices. The firm has also developed sophisticated budgeting tools tailored for client trial needs.
