Seyfarth Shaw's 2009 Workplace Class Action Litigation Report Featured in CCH WorkWeek
"Consider This: Economic Meltdown Fueled Class Action Workplace Litigation, Seyfarth Finds"
Seyfarth Shaw's 2009 Workplace Class Action Litigation Report was featured in the January 12, 2009 issue of CCH WorkWeek in the article, "Consider This: Economic Meltdown Fueled Class Action Workplace Litigation, Seyfarth Finds." The article described how the report is an exhaustive review of 2008's most significant class action rulings. The report's findings showed "the volume of wage and hour litigation continues to increase exponentially, outnumbering all other types of employment-related class actions; the Class Action Fairness Act still has a significant effect on workplace litigation; and the financial stakes in workplace class action litigation have increased yet again." The article pointed out that the report discussed how last year's economic meltdown fueled more class action litigation and even more litigation is expected in 2009 as additional workers lose their jobs. Additionally, the article noted that according to the report, "continued worker displacement coupled with changed enforcement philosophy under an Obama Administration means employers will face a 'perfect storm' of workplace litigation exposure."
