Seyfarth Shaw Welcomes Robert C. Stevens and Benjamin D. Briggs to Atlanta Office as Partners in the Labor & Employment Department

Atlanta, GA (July 6, 2009)—Seyfarth Shaw LLP, one of America’s leading full-service law firms, today announced that Robert (“Bob”) C. Stevens and Benjamin (“Ben”) D. Briggs have joined the firm’s Atlanta office as partners in the Labor & Employment Department. Prior to joining Seyfarth Shaw, both were partners at Troutman Sanders LLP.

Stevens brings over 12 years of experience representing public and privately held companies throughout the United States in employment-related litigation. He concentrates his practice on litigation and counseling matters involving employment discrimination, restrictive covenant, trade secret, and wage and hour issues. He has extensive litigation experience, having represented clients in bench and jury trials in state and federal tribunals and before administrative agencies. Outside the courtroom, Stevens regularly counsels clients in complying with federal and state employment laws and in litigation avoidance.

Briggs’ practice focuses on a wide-variety of labor and employment matters arising under state and federal law. Areas of significant experience, include: representation of clients in employment discrimination cases, wage and hour litigation (including collective actions), OSHA matters, restrictive covenant and trade secret disputes, union campaigns, collective bargaining, unfair labor practice charges, whistleblower claims and agency proceedings. In addition, Briggs has significant experience providing training, advice and preventative counseling in all areas of labor and employment law.

The Atlanta office opened in 1996 and is regularly a leader in associate and employee satisfaction surveys. As a reflection of this growth, the Atlanta office will be moving from its current 50,000 square-feet of space to a new location with 82,000 square-feet that will be able to accommodate 130 attorneys. Stevens earned his B.S. from the University of Alabama and his J.D. (magna cum laude) from the University of Alabama, where he wrote for the Alabama Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif. He was also a member of the Jessup International Moot Court Team and the Moot Court Board. He is a member of the American Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Section, the Labor and Employment Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia, and the Atlanta Bar. Stevens is admitted to practice law in the state of Georgia.

Briggs received his B.B.A. from the University of Miami and his J.D. (with honors) from Georgia State University, where he was a member of the Georgia State Law Review. He is admitted to practice law in Georgia.
