Alex S. Drummond, partner in Seyfarth's Labor & Employment department in Atlanta, received the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA)/Vision in Action (VIA) 2020 Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award.

After a rigorous review process, the HNBA 2020 National Awards Selection Committee selected Drummond from a pool of highly qualified candidates from across the country. His outstanding professional achievements combined with an exceptional commitment to service set him apart as someone who is worthy of this esteemed recognition. The HNBA presented the award at the Virtual HNBA/VIA National Awards Reception during the virtual 2020 HNBA/VIA Corporate Counsel Conference and Annual Convention (CCC-AC2020).

Drummond is dedicated to serving his community through his pro bono efforts. In 2016, he was named the Seyfarth’s Pro Bono Partner of the Year for this dedication, including work with organizations like the Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta. Drummond has worked closely with the Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta to coordinate and participate in the Rapid Remedy clinic, an annual event in the firm’s Atlanta office for the past three years that offers attorneys the opportunity to serve the community and share employment expertise during a half-day legal clinic. In total since the start of the clinic, 23 nonprofits have been served.

In 2019, Drummond joined the board of directors for Georgia Asylum and Immigration Network (GAIN), an organization whose mission is to provide free immigration legal services to victims of crime and persecution. In this role, Drummond coordinates a training for attorneys and paralegals in the Atlanta office. Participants learn how to engage with the Victims of Violence Program, which helps immigrant victims of human trafficking, domestic violence, and sexual abuse receive access to quality legal representation for their immigration matters. This effort includes utilizing Seyfarth’s large immigration team as support resource for volunteers outside of the law firm.

The HNBA VIA Fund is the Hispanic National Bar Association’s 501 (c)(3) charitable arm. The HNBA VIA Fund’s mission is to empower the U.S. Latinx community through programs and initiatives that increase the community’s access and influence, and provide expanded education, career advancement, and leadership opportunities. Through a combination of targeted programmatic activities (trainings, workshops, mentoring and pipeline programs, pro bono legal services, conferences, and more!), HNBA VIA, as a joint enterprise with the HNBA, supports the development and advancement of Latinx students, legal professionals and community members.
