Seyfarth's Michelle Barnett Named to Institute for Portfolio Alternatives Rising Leaders Council

Seyfarth’s Michelle L. Barnett, a partner in the firm’s Corporate department in Atlanta, was named to the Institute for Portfolio Alternatives (IPA) Rising Leaders Council.

The Council was created under the direction of IPA’s Board of Directors to recognize emerging leaders by providing a unique opportunity to serve the industry. Collectively, the Council reflects a broad spectrum of IPA member companies. Each Council Member exemplifies excellence and shares a deep commitment to its mission to advance portfolio diversification, and drive transparency and innovation in the marketplace. Over the next two years, this prestigious and dedicated group will spearhead a number of strategic education and outreach initiatives on behalf of the IPA.

In her practice, Ms. Barnett helps sponsors and general partners of investment funds in the structuring, implementation, and monetization of real estate investment programs, including like-kind exchange and qualified opportunity fund programs. She regularly counsels clients on transaction structure, offering and investment documentation, and broker-dealer agreements. Notably, Ms. Barnett has been a key participant in more than 100 investment funds. In addition, she has substantial experience advising clients on the use and negotiation of state and local economic incentives, including revenue bond financing, throughout the country to assist in the financing of new industrial, commercial, multifamily and mixed-use projects.
