Seyfarth’s New York Office Welcomes Labor Management Partner Ivan Smith

NEW YORK (July 19, 2022) -- Seyfarth announced today the arrival of partner Ivan D. Smith to its Labor & Employment department and Labor Management Relations practice group in New York. Smith also joins the firm’s national team of entertainment attorneys who represent clients from across its full-service platform. He previously served as a Labor & Employment and Entertainment, Media & Sports shareholder at Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney in New York.

Smith advises employers from a large range of industries in traditional labor management relations, including arbitrations, collective bargaining negotiations, and complex litigation in front of the National Labor Relations Board. In addition, he counsels institutional investors and high-net-worth individuals on how to economically invest in film and entertainment projects. Smith’s entertainment practice also includes representing individuals and companies with their intellectual property, which includes licensing and trademark litigation.

Earlier in his career, Smith served as an adjunct professor at the Cornell University Industrial School of Labor Relations. He earned his J.D. from the Albany Law School of Union University and received a B.A. in Economics from Tufts University.

Smith is the latest addition to Seyfarth’s growing New York office which has added over 40 attorneys since the beginning of 2021, including eight new partners.
