Shamim Mohandessi and Trevor Tullius to Speak at NAPPA's Legal Education Conference
Trevor Tullius and Shamim Mohandessi, partners in Seyfarth's Corporate department, will serve as speakers at the National Association of Public Pension Attorneys (NAPPA)'s Legal Education Conference. Evan Sarosi, partner in Seyfarth's Corporate Department, is a member of NAPPA's Investments Section Committee.
Trevor will be moderating the session, "Avoiding Minefields in Fund Documentation: Navigating Pitfalls, Trends, and Best Practices," taking place from 3:00-4:00 pm ET on Wednesday, June 17. In 2026 we continue to see terms in fund governing documents that appear to be boilerplate or simple on the surface but may have material economic and legal implications to institutional investors. This session will discuss potential minefields in select hot button issues including GP clawbacks, management fee calculations, commitment period and term extensions, continuation funds, NAV facilities and borrowing, and governmental specific topics. It will also explore issues to consider, terms to look out for, and emerging trends driving how we negotiate fund governing documents.
Shamim will be speaking at the session, "Implementing AI in the Legal Review Process: Frameworks, Privilege, and Playbooks," taking place from 3:00-4:00 pm ET on Thursday, June 18. This session will provide a step-by-step guide to adopting AI tools within an investment legal review environment. It will cover workflow assessment, data governance, accuracy and risk considerations, and privilege implications when using AI. It will also outlines best practices for developing an AI-aligned contract playbook to standardize terms, streamline negotiations, and ensure that AI outputs reflect the organization’s preferred positions.
