OFCCP Final Rule Will Change How Contactors Post Job Listings
Val Hoffman was quoted in the article, “OFCCP Final Rule Will Change How Contactors Post Job Listings,” published August 9, 2007 in HR News. The article reports on an August 8, 2007 final rule amending the regulations for a law that requires federal contractors to take some affirmative action for certain veterans. The Jobs for Veterans Act (JVA) amended the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), eliminating the listing of employment opportunities only with America’s Job Bank as a compliance option. Under the new rules, contractors must submit listings to each state’s job bank according to the various formats for each different job bank. Currently, there is no single portal to coordinate such postings with a uniform format.
In the meantime, federal contractors are “in a gap period,” Val noted. Val is confident, however, that there will be “a good, low-cost solution 12 months from now—maybe sooner.” In the short term, though, federal contractors face costly stop-gap solutions, she noted, as the final rule takes effect Sept. 7, 2007.
