Visa Issuance Fee to Increase

Currently, the filing fee for a nonimmigrant visa application is $65.00. Effective on November 1, 2002, the filing fee will increase to $100.00 The U.S. Department of State in its interim final rule amending the Schedule of Fees for Consular Services stated that the increase was necessary due to decline in the overall number of visa applications coupled with the higher costs resulting from the increased security screening of visa applications in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
