Webinar Recording - 2020 California Legislative Update: New Challenges for Employers

With the 2019-2020 California Legislative Session having come to a close, and the last bills awaiting the Governor’s approval or veto, employers doing business in California have already been faced with a number of new laws with which they immediately—or as of January 1, 2021—will need to comply.

Join Seyfarth California Workplace Solutions and Legislative Team partners for a review of these new laws that will impact employers doing business in California. We will provide practical suggestions to ensure your business is prepared for 2021. We will also provide a summary of which potential legislation did not make the cut, but may return in future legislative sessions.

Topics Include:

  • COVID-19 Supplemental Paid Sick Leave and Workers’ Compensation Liability Presumption (Effective Immediately September 9 and 17, 2020)
  • COVID-19 Exposure Notification Requirements
  • New Settlement Agreement Requirements
  • Sweeping Changes to AB 5 Independent Contractor Law
  • New California Family Rights Act Expansion
