Zeynep Ersin Discusses AI, Value, and the Future of Legal Services at ALM's Legalweek Conference

Seyfarth's Chief Innovation and Strategic Design Officer Zeynep Ersin presented at the ALM Law.com Legalweek conference as a panelist on the opening AI workshop, “Shaping Tomorrow: Visionaries Discuss the State of AI Across the Legal Market.” The panel explored the opportunities and risks created by rapid advancements in artificial intelligence, including how these shifts are influencing conversations around the billable hour and the rise of “AI slop.”

Ersin emphasized that client expectations reflected in requests for proposals, outside counsel guidelines, and evaluations now prioritize faster delivery with the same high-quality outcomes. She noted that to maintain the same number of billable hours, firms must introduce new forms of value—such as identifying emerging risks and elevating work product.
