WASHINGTON, D.C. -- (February 11, 2019) -- Seyfarth Shaw LLP announced today the arrival of partner Bryan M. O’Keefe to the Labor & Employment department in Washington, D.C. O’Keefe joins from Kirkland & Ellis LLP, where he was a Washington, D.C. partner in its Employment & Labor practice group.

O’Keefe frequently represents employers in traditional labor law matters, including in NLRB unfair labor practice charges and administrative law judge trials, NLRB appellate matters, union organizing and representational elections, collective bargaining, strikes, pickets, and corporate campaigns. In addition, he is frequently called upon to advise on traditional labor relations matters that arise in corporate transactions such as (i) advice and counsel on the structure of union corporate transactions, (ii) the potential for NLRA successorship, (iii) decisional and effects bargaining obligations, and (iv) union-related bankruptcy implications.

“Our growing team gains another outstanding labor lawyer with the addition of Bryan,” said Laura Maechtlen, chair of Seyfarth’s Labor & Employment department. “He brings significant experience in all areas of traditional labor law and has developed a leading practice in labor and employment transactional work.”

O’Keefe also frequently represents employers in employment litigation matters, in particular non-compete cases, wage and hour litigation, and high stakes government investigations before the U.S. Department of Labor and state agencies.

“Bryan is an immensely talented lawyer who has successfully represented companies in high profile proceedings in front of the NLRB and other federal agencies,” said Robert Bodansky, managing partner of Seyfarth’s Washington, D.C. office. “In addition, his corporate transactional capabilities are a fantastic complement to the firm’s corporate practice.”

Earlier in his career, O’Keefe was a public policy consultant on labor, employment, and higher education in Washington, D.C. for several think tanks and trade associations, working with organizations such as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and H.R. Policy Association. He earned his J.D., summa cum laude, from the Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law, where he served as editor-in-chief of the Penn State Law Review. O’Keefe received his B.A., summa cum laude, from the George Washington University.

Last week, Seyfarth announced the arrival of partner Richard Chen to the Labor & Employment department in Los Angeles. Earlier this year, the firm hired labor economist Christopher Haan to the Labor & Employment department and the firm’s Organizational Strategy & Analytics (OSA) team.
