More About Jeff

Employers face complex and seemingly ever-evolving labor and employment laws in California and nationally. They regularly look to Jeff for strategic solutions to avoid litigation and aggressive representation should they find themselves the target of a lawsuit.

Jeff represents employers in complex labor and employment litigation, with a special focus on the defense of wage and hour class and representative actions arising under the California Labor Code, Unfair Competition Law, and Private Attorneys General Act of 2004 (PAGA). Jeff has secured walk-away settlements of wage and hour class and PAGA actions; successfully compelled putative class and PAGA claims to arbitration; prevailed on summary judgment in putative class and representative actions; and resolved many other cases on terms favorable to his clients.

Jeff also has experience working with employers to proactively improve policies and procedures and reduce the risk of future litigation. He has worked with clients to design and implement meal and rest period and off the clock attestation systems, and has assisted clients with implementing compensation systems that incentivize and reward good work by employees, while not running afoul of California’s byzantine wage and hour rules.

In addition to wage and hour matters, Jeff has experience defending single and multiplaintiff suits for discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. Jeff also works with employers to protect their confidential and proprietary information, and is experienced in litigating claims under the federal Defend Trade Secrets Act and California Uniform Trade Secrets Act.

Jeff enjoys working alongside a dynamic team of Seyfarth attorneys who are highly experienced and skillful in their fields.
