More About Michael

Employers face a complex array of obligations under state and federal anti-discrimination statutes, wage-and-hour laws, and other potential claims by employees, such as wrongful discharge, breach of contract, and other common law theories. Michael draws from a broad range of litigation experience in order to provide assertive, efficient, and effective representation to employers when they find themselves in employment disputes.

Michael has a particular interest in claims of disability discrimination, both in the employment context and public accommodations under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act and its state analogs. Michael has experience litigating many types of disputes under Title III of the ADA, including claims involving physical and architectural barriers, provision of accessible goods and services, policies and practices related to admission of service animals and medical supplies in public facilities, and accessibility of software and internet websites. He has succeeded in obtaining dismissal of multiple Title III cases, and has helped navigate many others to resolution. Michael also has experience providing pragmatic and solutions-oriented advice and counseling to employers with regard to all aspects of their employee and personnel relations, including development of employee manuals, PTO and parental leave policies, and advice regarding compliance with applicable state and federal statutes and regulations.

Michael has pursued his abiding interest in employment law in a variety of settings, beginning with an internship at the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination as an undergraduate student. This experience gave Michael first-hand insight into the operation of the primary administrative agency charged with the enforcement of Massachusetts' anti-discrimination laws. After law school, Michael served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable James R. Milkey at the Massachusetts Appeals Court. After his clerkship, Michael joined a boutique Boston law firm, in which he routinely represented both employers and employees in a variety of litigation matters. Before joining Seyfarth, Michael practiced as a litigation associate in the Boston office of a major national law firm, handling both employment litigation as well as an array of other litigation matters.

Throughout his career, Michael has handled all aspects of litigation matters on behalf of clients. He has successfully briefed and argued dispositive motions, prepared cases for trial, and defended successful outcomes on appeal. Michael also frequently represents employers in connection with matters pending before state and federal anti-discrimination agencies.

In his Seyfarth practice, Michael is proud to bring his passion for employment law to bear in representing a dynamic and diverse group of employers. He is grateful to be able to be part of Seyfarth's tradition of excellence within his practice.
