NEW YORK (January 17, 2023) — Seyfarth has announced that Amanda Genovese has joined the firm as a partner in its Litigation department, focusing primarily on disputes in the health care and financial services sectors. Genovese’s move to Seyfarth continues the ongoing growth of the firm’s New York office, where she will be based. She comes to Seyfarth from Troutman Pepper, where she was a partner.

Genovese, who earned the honor of “Rising Star” from the New York Law Journal last October, has built her strong reputation by defending Fortune 100 companies, along with many of the country’s largest health care companies and financial institutions in their most complex disputes. The managed care industry has shown a high regard for Genovese by making her a “go-to” outside counsel when faced with regulatory issues or navigating contentious civil conflicts.

“We are excited that Amanda Genovese is joining our talented team of litigators across the country,” said James McGrath, national chair of Seyfarth’s Litigation department. “She has a proven track record in high-stakes litigation, arbitrations, mediations, and consumer class actions that will greatly benefit our clients and deepen our capabilities, particularly in our health care practice.”

“Amanda’s wide-ranging experience and know-how with government contracts and health care-related litigation will produce strong synergies with Seyfarth’s talented Health Care, Life Sciences and Pharmaceuticals Group,” said Kristin McGurn, the group’s co-chair.

Genovese has significant experience managing a spectrum of health care disputes, including defending companies against claims under ERISA (individual and class actions) and other federal laws and regulations governing managed care plans.  Genovese has consistently delivered desired results for clients embroiled in payor-provider disputes—obtaining dozens of dismissals by dispositive motions and aggressively steering cases to favorable, and frequently early, settlements. As an experienced commercial litigator, Genovese prosecutes and defends all types of commercial claims on behalf of corporate clients.

“Amanda's addition to our partnership aligns with our strategic goal of expanding our best-in-class health care and commercial litigation capabilities," said Lorie Almon, co-managing partner of Seyfarth’s New York office, which has grown 18% in lawyer headcount over the past three years.

“Joining Seyfarth enables me to expand my practice while becoming part of a truly outstanding and collaborative team of lawyers,” said Genovese. “Seyfarth offers a strong commitment to its top-notch commercial litigation and health care practices, both of which are an ideal match for my clients’ needs.”

Genovese has been deeply involved in diversity and inclusion programs as a strong advocate for DEI, focusing on LGBTQIA+ issues.  She has also built a solid reputation with her peers as being an excellent mentor.

Genovese earned her JD from New York Law School and her bachelor’s degree from Manhattan College.
