NEW YORK (September 16, 2010)— Seyfarth Shaw’s litigation and employment litigation teams were lauded this month in a survey of Fortune 100 legal decision makers. Seyfarth’s Employment Litigation department was named one of three “standouts” in employment litigation. The survey by BTI Consulting Group also found that clients named Seyfarth’s Litigation department as a “strongly recommended” firm.
Over the past year, BTI conducted 240 interviews with corporate counsel from 18 percent of Fortune 100 corporations to come up with its list of law firms most recommended for litigation. The BTI Consulting Group is a Boston-based market research and management consulting firm with over 25 years of experience and offers the largest independent knowledge base of client needs for professional service firms.
Camille A. Olson, chair of the firm's Complex Discrimination Litigation practice group, credited a high level of integration of regional offices for the firm's strong reputation among in-house counsel. “We think of ourselves as one law firm with long hallways,” she said. “Having a seamless team is very significant.”
Olson also pointed out that the firm's approximately five-year-old SeyfarthLean model, a way of analyzing and delivering value to clients through the use of Lean Six Sigma methodologies, provides a tool to control legal costs, provide efficient and proactive legal service, and build a partnership with clients to assure that the solutions fit their needs. SeyfarthLean has decreased litigation costs for clients by anywhere from 15 percent to 50 percent and created a partnership between firm and client on how cases can be handled, she added.
Seyfarth has also counted several big wins over the past year, including beating a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act lawsuit against Deutsche Post DHL on summary judgment, blocking certification of a 20,000-person class in a Fair Labor Standards Act suit against Delta-T Group Inc.
“What sets Seyfarth’s lawyers apart from many other law firms is their focus not only on the results, but also they place great importance on open and effective communication early and throughout the process while keeping in mind aggressive budgets, the bigger picture and the client’s best interests,” said Bradley Paskievitch, senior legal counsel at Deutsche Post DHL.
Seyfarth Shaw has over 750 attorneys located in 10 offices throughout the United States, including: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Sacramento, San Francisco, and Washington D.C., as well as Brussels, Belgium. Seyfarth Shaw provides a broad range of legal services in the areas of labor and employment, employee benefits, litigation, corporate, and real estate.
