The move of Corporate partner Henry Morriello, and his team of Counsel Karsten Giesecke and Michael Karol to Seyfarth was notably featured in the New York Law Journal, Law360, Structured Credit Investor (UK)Bloomberg LawAsset Securitization Report, National Mortgage News, and The American Lawyer. Morriello discussed how Seyfarth’s growth vision drew him and his team to the firm, and that the firm’s presence in key regions for structured finance like Dallas and Charlotte made it a desirable place to move his work and his team.

Morriello is a market-leading finance attorney, active in all areas of finance, including structured finance and derivatives, transportation finance, and financial regulatory matters. Karsten Giesecke and Michael Karol, who have worked closely with Morriello for many years, handle complex transactions at the highest levels.

The NYLJ wrote on the front page: “Morriello said he had not been planning to leave his former firm, where he had worked for 29 years, but that the opportunity to join with [Paul] Kruger and help build out the existing structured finance team under Seyfarth’s corporate department was too good an opportunity to pass up. ‘We had worked across the table from each other for many years on different transactions, he largely representing large issuers in the asset-backed securitization and myself representing underwriters in those areas,’ Morriello said. ‘We said, you know, ‘How great would it be to join our practices?’”

Law360 wrote: “The pull factors for Morriello and his team included Seyfarth's strength in finance, investment funds, bankruptcy and restructuring. He also appreciated the firm's geographic reach. ‘I was extraordinarily impressed with Seyfarth's commitment to financial markets and, in particular, to cities which have really become key cities in the finance practice — in particular, the structured finance practice — in the last decade,’ Morriello said, citing places like Houston, Charlotte, North Carolina, and Atlanta.”

Structured Credit Investor (UK) reported on the move: “Seyfarth Shaw has poached three New York-based securitisation lawyers from Arnold & Porter. Henry Morriello joins the firm as partner, while Karsten Giesecke and Michael Karol have been named counsel in its corporate finance team;” as did Bloomberg Law: “Seyfarth Shaw hired Henry Morriello and two other New York structured finance lawyers from Arnold & Porter, the firm said Wednesday. Morriello, who joins the firm as a partner, will become co-chair of Seyfarth’s structured finance group. Karsten Giesecke and Michael Karol will work in counsel roles in the group, the firm said.”

Asset Securitization Report noted: “International law firm Seyfarth Shaw just added a three-lawyer team to its structured finance practice, led Henry Morriello who joins in New York and becomes co-chair of the firm's structured finance practice. Karsten Giesecke and Michael Karol join Morriello at Seyfarth Shaw, as counsel, according to a statement from the firm.”

National Mortgage News wrote: "Morriello has chaired several practices at top firms, including Arnold & Porter's Structured Finance and Derivatives practice and its transportation finance practice, according to a statement from Seyfarth Shaw."

The American Lawyer article, which appeared on page two of the NYLJ said: "Lateral announcements in Q4 remains high, including... Seyfarth Shaw adding a three-lawyer structured finance team from Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer that included its structured finance and derivatives chair."
