Kyle Petersen Elected to Public Interest Law Initiative Board of Directors
Seyfarth Shaw’s Kyle Petersen, partner in the firm’s Labor and Employment department, was elected to serve on the Public Interest Law Initiative’s (PILI) Board of Directors. PILI's mission is to cultivate a lifelong commitment to public interest law and pro bono service within the Illinois legal community to expand the availability of legal services for people, families and communities in need. PILI envisions a legal community with a deeply rooted culture of service, where law students, lawyers and legal professionals at all stages of their careers engage in public interest law or pro bono work, and remain committed to addressing the unmet legal needs of the poor and underrepresented.
Petersen is an Alumna of PILI’s Graduate Fellowship Program, having served as a PILI Fellow in 2001 at Pro Bono Advocates (now known as Domestic Violence Legal Clinic). Since her Fellowship, she has been involved in several non-profit organizations, regularly provides pro bono representation to legal aid agencies and has represented immigrants seeking asylum.
