CHICAGO (February 4, 2014) — For the third consecutive year, leading law firm Seyfarth Shaw LLP is pleased to announce it was selected by Law360 as a 2013 “Practice Group of the Year” in the Employment category.
Highlighting the firm’s “offensive defense” and “bold strategies,” Law360 recognized Seyfarth for its aggressive and innovative approach in a series of high-profile matters and results from 2013, including the defeat of the first-ever racial discrimination lawsuit involving the use of credit history in hiring practices, which was filed against Kaplan Higher Education Corp. by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Seyfarth was also noted for its successes in defeating complex wage-and-hour class actions for H&R Block and Prudential Financial, as well as a race bias case for the National Counsel of YMCAs of the USA.
The firm was also heralded when it “flipped the usual script” and filed suit against the EEOC in federal court on behalf of employer Case New Holland, alleging that the EEOC used an unprecedented mass email to employees to solicit plaintiffs from CNH’s workforce. Earlier this year, Law360 named CNH’s suit one of its top “EEOC Cases To Watch In 2014.”
Law360 editors received nearly 675 submissions from 130 law firms. Winners were chosen based on the significance, size and complexity of the litigation wins or deals worked on between November 1, 2012 and November 1, 2013.
