On May 28, 2021, Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker signed into law legislation that grants employees Emergency Paid Sick Leave for COVID-related illness, quarantine, and vaccinations. The law is effective immediately and allows for leave until September 30, 2021, or the exhaustion of $75 million in allotted funds, whichever is earlier.

In this timely and informative webinar, members of Seyfarth Shaw's Boston office share their insight on the new legislation and offer practical advice for employers in the Commonwealth. Specific topics covered include:

  • The amount of Emergency Paid Sick Leave available and reasons for use
  • Compensation available to employees and how employers can obtain reimbursement for Emergency Paid Sick Leave payments
  • Employer notice requirements and other obligations
  • Federal FFCRA leave
