Nine Seyfarth Attorneys Recognized by Lawdragon 500 Leading Litigators in America for 2027

Lawdragon has selected nine Seyfarth attorneys for its 500 Leading Litigators in America guide for 2027, a recognition spotlighting lawyers at the forefront of high-stakes litigation across the United States.

The guide honors the nation's leading litigators, including "appellate artists, class action stars, energy experts and IP and trade secret lawyers" who have distinguished themselves through exceptional advocacy and results.

The nine Seyfarth partners were recognized across a broad range of practice areas including bankruptcy, civil litigation, commercial litigation, construction, criminal matters, investigations, real estate, regulatory matters, and securities and financial litigation.

The following attorneys were selected for inclusion:

• Mark Johnson, an accomplished commercial litigator and chair of the Chicago Litigation group, represents owners, developers, general contractors, and subcontractors in a variety of matters, in both the dispute resolution and transactional contexts.
• Daphne Morduchowitz focuses on financial services litigation, white collar defense, and complex commercial litigation. She has extensive experience representing public companies, special committees and individual officers and directors of large publicly traded corporations in both federal and state courts, as well as in connection with regulatory investigations.
• Scott Morvillo, a former Assistant US Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, has vast experience in all aspects of criminal and civil litigation — from the investigations through trial. He practices before the US District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the Second Circuit, the New York State Supreme Court, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and other regulatory agencies.
• Marc Mukasey, co-chair of Seyfarth’s Trials group and the co-lead of its New York Litigation department, is a renowned courtroom lawyer who is widely sought after for his skilled and passionate presentations. He attracts clients from a broad range of sectors, including financial services, sports, manufacturing, and health care, and he’s defended clients in some of the most prominent criminal and civil cases of recent times. 
• Ellen Murphy advises financial institutions, public and private companies, boards, and executives in a variety of regulatory, criminal, internal, and civil investigations and litigation. She represents clients in connection with investigations by the US Department of Justice, the US Securities and Exchange Commission, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and other regulatory agencies.
• Vincent Sama, co-chair of the firm’s National Commercial and Securities Litigation practice, has handled high-profile and bet-the-company cases in the state and federal courts of New York, and federal and state courts in various parts of the country. He is a nationally recognized commercial, financial services and securities litigator.
• Elizabeth Schrero, known as an aggressive and tenacious litigator, has a deep understanding of commercial and high-end residential real estate and real estate litigation. She counsels commercial and residential property owners, developers, commercial tenants, brokers, and cooperative and condominium boards and apartment owners.
• James Sowka, co-lead of Seyfarth’s Distressed Situations team, has a unique insight into the business challenges and opportunities posed by bankruptcy and financial distress. He helps a wide variety of clients with bankruptcy, creditors’ rights, and real estate and health care workouts and enforcement issues.
• Rebecca Woods is a seasoned litigator with more than 25 years of experience handling complex commercial litigation matters. She handles bet-the-company and reputationally sensitive matters, including disputes with exposure exceeding $1 billion.
