CHICAGO, IL September 14, 2026

Seyfarth Shaw LLP today announced that it will host the Seyfarth DATA Law Conference: Navigate AI, Privacy & Data Risk with Confidence on November 5, 2026, at Seyfarth’s Chicago office. The half-day program will bring together Seyfarth DATA Law practitioners, in-house legal leaders, and industry experts for a practical discussion of how  AI, privacy, cybersecurity, IP, information governance risks are converging.

AI compliance issues, privacy regulation, cybersecurity exposure, IP risk, and data governance obligations are no longer separate workstreams — they land on the same desks, often at the same time. The DATA Law Conference is built to help in-house counsel and risk leaders see those intersections clearly, anticipate regulatory expectations, learn from real-world examples, and leave with wholistic, practical steps they can act on.

“Clients are being asked to move quickly on AI, data, and technology initiatives while also managing rising legal, regulatory, and operational risk,” said Lorie Almon, Seyfarth’s Chair and Managing Partner. “This conference reflects how we work with clients, connecting strategy, compliance, governance, and defensibility across disciplines that can no longer be managed in silos.”

The agenda includes plenary sessions on why DATA Law disciplines can no longer operate in silos and how organizations can move from legal advice to enterprise execution. Afternoon breakout sessions span three tracks: Labor & Employment, Privacy & Data Litigation, and AI, Privacy & IP Counseling. Sessions will address AI in the workforce, operationalizing AI governance across HR and talent acquisition, privacy litigation, responsible governance before deployment, and enterprise controls for managing interconnected risks involving AI, privacy, intellectual property, contracting, retention, and information governance.

Guided roundtables will give attendees a candid, off-the-record forum to compare governance models, internal ownership, business pressure, and to hear what is actually working for in-house teams. A networking reception with “Ask Me Anything” stations will follow, featuring Seyfarth practitioners across DATA Law disciplines.

“Legal teams are being asked to enable innovation at a breakneck pace while maintaining defensibility, compliance, trust, and operational discipline,” said Jay Carle, Seyfarth partner and leader of the firm’s DATA Law initiative. “Our goal is for clients to leave this program with practical frameworks, peer perspective, and concrete ideas they can bring back to their organizations.”

Registration and additional program information are available on the Seyfarth DATA Law Conference landing page.
