Seyfarth’s Complex Discrimination Litigation practice co-chair Chris DeGroff was quoted extensively by The Washington Post in its article, “Why Trump’s EEOC wants to talk to White men about discrimination.” The piece examines the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s (EEOC) shift in priorities under Chair Andrea Lucas, including a heightened focus on dismantling diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs and addressing claims of reverse discrimination.

DeGroff noted that the EEOC filed only 93 merit lawsuits in fiscal year 2025, its lowest in decades, and warned that employers should expect increased litigation over DEI programs in 2026.

The article also references Seyfarth’s EEOC FY’25 report, which notes that 2025 saw the lowest number of race/national origin-based filings by the EEOC in at least a decade.
