Across his career, Joe has worked with diverse technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) involving autonomous vehicles, such as self-driving cars and robots, computer vision, human-centered AI, generative AI, IC design and fabrication, electronic packaging, voltage regulator circuits, power systems, non-volatile memory devices, RF front-end-module circuits for mobile platform devices, and processor and chipset architecture. Previously, Joe worked as a senior software engineer in the information technology branch of the largest managed care organization in the United States.

Joe leads the practice’s patent prosecution work for Fortune 100 international clients, supporting patent preparation, filing, and prosecution for robotics and autonomous vehicle technologies. His work includes patent families involving shared control approaches for highly dynamic vehicle operation and patent application drafting and filing for technology involving overriding manual disablement of lane-keep assist based on driver impairment and lane-keeping performance. He also supports patent prosecution for subdivisions of the Fortune 100 international clients  and advises on software, AI, computer vision, wireless communications, and autonomous vehicle technologies. Joe also plays a key role in the practice’s patent prosecution work for a Fortune 500 client, supporting patent preparation, filing, and prosecution for IC circuit fabrication, memory systems, and computer hardware enhancements for implementing AI technologies on edge devices.

Additionally, Joe is recognized by IAM Patent 1000 and has recently spoken on panels regarding AI and services on the planning committee of the USC IP Institute (Law Business Research). He is a member of the Mexican American Bar Association, the Hispanic National Bar Association, and ProVisors. He is also fluent in Spanish.
