More About Sean

Employers in California must navigate a complex, ever-changing set of labor and employment laws. Sean leverages his wide-ranging legal experience to guide clients through legal and regulatory issues and help them find strategic solutions.

Sean has more than a decade of experience in private practice, representing clients on both sides of the table in pre-litigation negotiations, case development, litigation, settlement, and appeals in a wide variety of legal matters. He has advised companies regarding resolution of benefits claims and other benefits plan design and administration issues and has also represented ERISA plans and committees in benefits claim litigation. He has also represented companies and individuals in connection with state and federal regulatory matters, including defending his clients from claims asserted by the Department of Labor or the Securities and Exchange Commission. Sean has also represented clients in connection with ERISA or securities cases related to alleged breaches of fiduciary duties and has extensive experience in private practice litigating both single-plaintiff and class action claims.

Prior to joining Seyfarth, Sean served as assistant general counsel for the State Bar of California and as a staff attorney for the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board in the Department of Industrial Relations for the State of California. His additional background in government practice provides him with unique insight into the inner workings of both the judicial system and regulatory agencies.
