Daniel focuses on international business transactions, and international litigation and dispute resolution. He works extensively with both the common law and civil law systems. He advises on complex international corporate finance, mining, energy, oil and gas, and maritime transactions. His litigation and arbitration practice includes:

Daniel has represented individuals, corporations, sovereign entities, and governments in complex, high-stakes matters. Among his most notable work, he served on the legal team for a foreign sovereign in prominent proceedings involving claims against a former head of state, as well as in a major securities fraud matter involving a state-affiliated economic development organization. Among other matters, these actions required the filing of numerous petitions for judicial assistance under 28 U.S.C. § 1782. He also represented an international compensation fund in connection with significant oil spill claims arising from a major maritime incident, and was part of the subcommittee that drafted Venezuela’s Maritime Law Act.
Daniel has significant experience in international arbitration and litigation. He has represented numerous corporations, states, and public entities in AAA, ICC, LCIA, ICDR, and other arbitral tribunals and courts. He has represented numerous governments or state organizations in the United States and international legal proceedings and negotiations, including Chile, Colombia, Dominica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, and Venezuela. He has also been appointed as expert on Venezuelan law in several arbitration and civil proceedings.
Daniel has been a guest professor of International Arbitration at Universidad Central de Venezuela and other universities, and often lectures and publishes on international arbitration and litigation. He is founder and past president of the VenezuelaAmerican National Law Association.
Daniel has represented individuals, corporations, sovereign entities, and governments in complex, high-stakes matters. Among his most notable work, he served on the legal team for a foreign sovereign in prominent proceedings involving claims against a former head of state, as well as in a major securities fraud matter involving a state-affiliated economic development organization.
