Dr. Haan is a Ph.D. Labor Economist with Seyfarth Shaw's national Labor & Employment practice and the Organizational Strategy & Analytics Team (OSA), an industry-leading group of lawyers, economists, analysts and technologists who use powerful analytical approaches for people analytics, workforce strategy, compliance, and litigation.

Dr. Haan holds a Ph.D., M.S. and B.A. in Economics, as well as a B.S. in Mathematics. He brings more than 18 years of sophisticated litigation consulting experience in the application of economic and statistical analysis to matters of litigation. His work has been in the context of both employment discrimination claims and wage and hour disputes. In the discrimination context, he has worked on matters alleging discrimination on the basis of age, race, gender, and other claims, covering the full range of employment practices, from recruitment and hiring, to promotion, pay, and terminations. Dr. Haan’s analytical work has involved statistical and econometric analyses as well as analysis of damages. He has especially broad experience in the development and use of large and complex employment databases.

As workplace data continues to expand and evolve, Dr. Haan’s deep expertise assists employers in leveraging data to drive business objectives. As a member of the firm’s multi-disciplinary OSA team, Dr. Haan is positioned to address virtually any workplace issue with a combination of compliance and legal expertise to define and design effective analytics. His sophisticated skill-set enhances the Firm’s litigation defense, especially in complex class and collective actions. He also provides a critical advantage to our litigation teams by assessing the analytical models developed by opposing experts and providing clients with key information needed to make critical decisions from early case assessment to trial strategy.

Prior to joining Seyfarth Shaw, Dr. Haan spent more than 18 years at nationally recognized economic consulting firms, providing data analysis, economic research and statistical analysis for litigation, business issues, and risk assessment in a variety of significant, high-stakes litigation and consulting settings across the nation. His work included sophisticated economic and statistical analysis in support of expert testimony for litigation matters, development of analytic databases, critique of plaintiff’s experts’ analysis, rebuttal of opposing experts, preparation of expert reports, deposition testimony, arbitration testimony, and data analysis used in mediations and arbitrations. Dr. Haan has testified at trial, deposition and arbitration, and has submitted expert reports in both state and federal courts.
