Seyfarth Celebrates 75 Years

Seyfarth proudly celebrates 75 years of excellence as it has grown into a global, full-service firm serving clients in all manner of industries.

Seventy-five years ago this month, Seyfarth’s founders made the courageous decision to start their own law firm, forming a new partnership to closely serve clients. It was 1945, near the end of World War II. They launched the firm in one room of the Continental Illinois Bank Building in Chicago with a few desks and milk crates.

From three lawyers in 1945 to more than 900 lawyers today, Seyfarth honors its past and present in 2020 through a series of commemorations:

• Charitable Initiative: Seyfarth proudly marks its diamond anniversary with a new charitable initiative to deepen support for several organizations which have been central to the firm’s efforts to give back to its communities. The firm has pledged $75,000 in donations across three organizations in which it is actively involved: Best Buddies, Kids in Need of Defense (KIND), and Girl Up.
• 75th Anniversary Video: Seyfarth celebrates its founders and their lasting legacy in this tribute to the firm’s enduring core values.
• Annual Review: Seyfarth has published its first-ever annual review to help preserve and share the firm’s heritage for future generations, which is available via a dedicated microsite that will be updated annually.

As Seyfarth looks toward the next 75 years, chair and managing partner Pete Miller remarked, “The foundation of the firm has never been stronger. We have the courage, culture, and commitment necessary to guide us well into the future as we continue to evolve our platform for the next generation.”
