More About Jennifer
Prior to rejoining Seyfarth, Jennifer spent 17 years in the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts, where she built and led the nationally recognized Civil Rights unit and served as a key member of the office’s senior leadership team. Her significant government experience and knowledge of Department of Justice processes allow her to advise clients navigating the critical junctions of business and government.
A seasoned trial lawyer, Jennifer has first chaired scores of federal trials, evidentiary hearings, and First Circuit appeals, and has represented federal agencies—including the CIA, FBI, Homeland Security, Bureau of Prisons, HUD, and the IRS—in high stakes civil and constitutional matters. Her litigation experience spans employment discrimination, tort and medical malpractice claims, constitutional violations, government and internal investigations, whistleblower matters, and complex commercial disputes.
As chief of the Civil Rights Unit, Jennifer supervised one of the busiest and most robust civil rights units in the country. She led or oversaw several nationally significant investigations and enforcement actions, including the only police misconduct investigation opened during the first Trump Administration, the first-ever DOJ finding of sex misconduct by police officers, the largest jury verdict under the Fair Housing Act in DOJ history, and the DOJ’s first settlement involving ADA discrimination based on Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD). She also oversaw 27 of the DOJ’s 35 MOUD-related ADA settlements and led high profile investigations involving police practices, corrections, education, disability rights, and housing discrimination.
Jennifer is widely regarded for her ability to navigate sensitive, high impact matters requiring sound judgment, cultural competence, strategic risk assessment, and effective stakeholder management. Her government experience gives her unmatched insight into DOJ enforcement priorities, crisis management, and investigative strategy—perspective she now brings to clients across sectors including health care, education, life sciences, tech, and government.
Earlier in her career, Jennifer practiced in Seyfarth’s Labor & Employment and Commercial Litigation groups, as well as at another large law firm, where she handled employment matters, internal investigations, contract disputes, trade secret issues, and a range of complex commercial cases. Her background also includes nearly two decades of teaching experience as a lecturer in law at Boston University School of Law and Northeastern University, and she holds a Masters of Public Administration from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.
