More About Michael
All businesses are challenged to efficiently and successfully resolve disputes and manage litigation risks. Michael is an experienced trial attorney whose clients benefit from his legal and business judgment and his skills in managing the uncertainties of complex disputes.
Michael's practice focuses on litigation, with particular experience in large intellectual property and commercial lawsuits, including patent and trade secrets litigation, and motor vehicle dealer disputes. He has handled cases in federal and state courts, and in private arbitrations throughout the country, involving sporting goods, financial services and products, electronics, and food products, among many others. Michael has extensive bench trial, jury trial, and appellate experience. He has spoken and written frequently on a variety of matters, including patent damages, protecting trade secrets, and expert witnesses.
Unlike many litigators today, Michael is a trial attorney who has tried dozens of cases in federal and state courts throughout the US. This experience enables him to maximize each client's litigation position from the outset, and sends a clear message to the opposing party that the client and its legal team are trial-ready.
After 15 years of practicing law, Michael earned his MBA. He learned such tools of the trade as accounting, cost accounting, and financial analysis, which he applies every day in representing his clients in their business disputes. With both an MBA and deep experience with a wide range of businesses, Michael views and understands business disputes from the clients' perspective.
Michael is hands-on. He is not content to sit back and let junior attorneys run cases, only to swoop in for trial or for some significant hearing. Michael actively leads the team and the representation from the outset. His teams are lean, with all team members playing important, defined roles, and having an ownership interest in the case and its outcome.
Michael enjoys brainstorming with his Seyfarth colleagues on litigation and trial strategy and tactics. He is particularly proud that this collaboration has many times led other, often junior team members to come up with case-changing and even case-winning ideas.
