More About Yana
Yana is a strategic legal advisor to clients at every stage—from Silicon Valley growth companies entering new markets for the first time to some of the world's largest public companies managing complex, multi-jurisdictional operations. Her advisory work focuses on developing enterprise wide privacy and artificial intelligence compliance programs, including privacy and AI impact assessments, cross-border data transfer management, vendor management, consent management, data breach response, and facilitation of data subject rights on a global scale. Yana helps bring products and services to global markets while managing local regulatory risks and building brand and data subject trust with consumers, candidates, and employees, having assisted dozens of clients with roll out and iteration of global privacy compliance frameworks.
Her international workplace compliance background is what sets Yana's counsel apart. She brings a rare combination of international privacy and employment law experience and deep knowledge of how global workforce relationships are managed by companies of all sizes in various sectors, gained through more than 15 years of international employment- and privacy-focused practice in London, Dubai, Palo Alto, and Los Angeles. She has particular depth of experience in designing global workforce initiatives and policymaking for all stages of the employment life cycle, as well as data privacy and AI compliance frameworks for global deployment of various privacy sensitive and AI-enabled tools for recruitment and hiring, workforce management, workforce analytics, and employee monitoring, including to meet newer regulatory requirements under the California CCPA ADMT, EU AI Act, and other privacy and emerging AI frameworks across the US, EU, UK, Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.
She advises on a broad range of issues involving HR data, including design of background check programs, recruitment tools, biometrics, employee monitoring, hotline reporting and investigations, profiling, and analytics for employers and vendors, as well as consumer data, including advising on privacy and AI-related aspects of consumer-facing services, websites, and products like smart vehicles and wearables. She also applies this experience to her work on related dimensions of mergers, acquisitions, and post-acquisition integrations. Yana is licensed to practice in California, England, and Wales and has been a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe since 2014. Yana also co-edits Seyfarth’s Global Privacy Watch blog.
